imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Have you guys seen this? Rihanna's new video We Found Love is amazing and I really can't help but love it, but only because it's a complete rip off of my favourite video, Cee Lo Green's Band of Horses cover No One's Gonna Love You. I can't be the only one that has spotted the similarity here - I will admit that Rihanna's video has much more of a Requiem for a Dream vibe... but the connection between these videos is still way too obvious for me. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

rabbits on the run

My favourite song of all time is and always will be White Houses by Vanessa Carlton - and it's a little funny because outside of that song I was never really a fan. But after listening to her albums and realizing there were some other songs I loved and none I hated - I am a fan! Listening to her new album Rabbits on the Run, you can see why. It's truly amazing and thoroughly encourage you to purchase it.

hooked on houses

One of my go-to movies is Something's Gotta Give. I love the movie but I might love the house in it more - it's an absolute dream! After obsessing over it for years, I decided to see what photos I could find of it online and lucky for me I can across this amazing website! Hooked On Houses has great stills of all the best TV and movie houses.. which is perfect because it also features some of my other favourite movie homes like The Family Stone, The Holiday and of course, The Notebook.

I recently bought my friend a book of someecard postcards and some of them really made me laugh out loud so I thought they were worth sharing. You may have seen these inappropriate cards around Facebook (I think they were popular 'bumper stickers' about 5 years ago) - Enjoy these favourites of mine...

 ...and the one that made me laugh for about five straight minutes the other day:

boom bada boom boom

Ok.. who doesn't love Nicki? Just saw this video for the first time recently and it made me love her even more. I'll never get over how amazing her ass is.

1 girl 5 gays

I don't know if anyone outside of Canada has seen this or can watch 1 girl 5 gays online via mtv.ca, but honestly - this show is entertainment at its finest! It's a great show and anyone who doesn't know about it really should. I know what I'm doing tonight...

old school love

The thing I wish I could have as a feature on my digital SLR is the multiple exposure function. I have it on my film SLR (duh, cause you can physically multiple expose film) - but I guess digitally it doesn't make much sense. So when I break out my film SLR I'm all about the double/ triple/ quad exposing; and the funnest part is finally seeing how they turn out!

"she's not just a fantasy... she's real"

My favourite Shakespeare.
Sonnet 130.

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;

Coral is far more red than her lips' red:
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound.
I grant I never saw a goddess go:
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground.
  And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
  As any she belied with false compare.

where sand and sky meet

My boys of summer. A beautiful cloudy day at the beach. Pictures are not what they could be but they were captured with an underwater camera - so worth it to not risk breaking another digital camera :)

an affair to remember

hurricane drunk

"I'm going out, gonna drink myself to death. And in the crowd, I see you with someone else. I brace myself cause I know it's going to hurt - But I like to think at least things can't get any worse."

sign design

A project from my Winter semester sign design class, featuring a threshold version of my friend Katie.

henri privat-livemont

Ever since I saw a poster of Henri Privat-Livemont's artwork I've been in love. Just look at the fonts he created! I was in need of some inspiration and thought to look up more of his artwork and why not share?

And my absolute favourite piece: Absinthe Robette
I have this poster hanging in my room - I love everything about it.

we are hunted

I've been completed addicted these last two days to We Are Hunted - a site containing the best of new music. My computer is in major need of more space after the downloading spree I went on after finding so many new artists on this site! I may be behind the times on this one - it's so great I find it hard to believe people haven't been raving about it forever, but at least I found it now. I found it via Nylonia, a Nylon Magazine blog (which is also amazing). I fully recommend checking it out, you will not be disappointed.

motown night

Can't miss a good motown night! Wish I got some better photos of my outfit.. without me making weird faces.. but I didn't. The denim jacket was actually my friend's and I insisted he let me try it on - it was such a gorgeous night, no jackets were necessary. Enjoy :)

city of waterfalls

As many of you might not know, my hometown (or the city it's a part of at least) is the waterfall capitol of the world. This may be quite hard to believe because Hamilton, Ontario is also well known as 'Steel City' - a majorly polluted steel manufacturing hub - but in fact, Hamilton is home to a plethora of waterfalls. Because of the escarpment, Hamilton houses over 120 waterfalls. Many of them are small,  but there are several that are literally breathtaking. In the summer, a popular day trip with my friends will be to a random waterfall with a picnic or barbeque. It wasn't as hot out as we had hoped today, so we didn't actually make it under the waterfall, but a friend and I had a fantastic photo shoot at a waterfall near my house anyway.

This particular waterfall is Sherman Falls; it's popular but not quite as high as some of the other ones in Hamilton. Many more waterfall adventures to come this summer!
