book by its cover

If you love sketches and getting a look at others' creativity - or you love to nosy around in peoples' notepads and doodles - you will love Book By Its Cover. It's a site littered with inspiring artwork and artist information. My favourite part of the site is getting to peer into oodles of artists' sketchbooks. The site creator, Julia Rothman, finds artists and gets them to reveal the inner workings of their creativity on her blog for all to see! If you haven't checked it out yet I really recommend it. Here's a taste of the fun you'll find there.

weekend in pictures

Though I worked Friday and Saturday this weekend, I still managed to have a little fun...

Friday Night:
Out on the town.. eventually..

Saturday Night:
"Swank Haus Party" complete with shiny gold shirt.

Hottest day at the pool & wettest evening on the golf course. My friend literally had his club fly out of his hand into the lake. Never. Laughed. Harder.

tuning my emotions

I'm always looking for new music and trying on new artists - and I'm one of those generic people that loves almost all music so there's alot I end up loving. I'm constantly on 8tracks.com letting playlists run for hours, but recently I've listening to music on StereoMood.com. It's a website that creates playlists based on mood - very cool. Thought I'd share this gem and if you're a big fan of shuffle, like I am, it's sure to please.

still life

I have been meaning to post more artwork and thought I'd start with this still life, a project from my Illustration Fundamentals class last fall. I intended to scan this in, but it proved too awkward to scan it - so pictures it is! Hope you enjoy :)

This piece was created with graphite on bond paper.

A quote by Elinor Glyn, the woman who coined the concept of the 'it girl' - the first 'it girl' being Clara Bow.

lingerie onesies

I love Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian. Not only are they absolutely hilarious/ ridiculous... they've got some amazing high-end style. After watching Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, I fell in love with Kourtney's lingerie rompers.

After looking everywhere (Victoria's Secret, Frederick's of Hollywood, LaSenza), I still couldn't find a similar onesie... until one fateful day on vacation in Arizona I found these perfect, and perfectly priced, lingerie rompers! Below are the rompers I found by Gilligan & O'Malley at Target. I bought the teal and navy ones and never looked back :)

I'm sure the bubble monster would love these rompers as much as I do... haha ohh Kardashians..

kawaii 2003

I love Japanese fashion - growing up and seeing fashion spreads like this would always fascinate me. The April 2003 issue of ElleGirl featured this Tokyo style and I thought I'd share considering I've been scanning in lots of pages of old ElleGirls. Sorry about the cutout pieces - guessing this issue was a collage victim.

A good friend of mine is moving to Japan soon and I'm really hoping to visit. As soon as she told me she was moving I pictured visiting and us eating Mcdonald's in Tokyo... did I just re-imagine that image from above? Strange.

team coco

I may have mentioned before that I'm a huge Conan O'Brien fan, and I just thought I'd share the hilarious love he sends his fans on Twitter. Hope it makes you chuckle ;)

never hide

Ray Ban's Never Hide advertisements are one of my favourite advertising campaigns. I love the colour combinations, the slogan - everything. They've been around a while but I always go back to them because they are so inspirational. What's more fun to look at than fashionable, colourful artwork? And with Ray Bans being on the expensive side - for now, I can only lust after them. It's still dollarstore sunglasses for me.
